Colorado Springs is a playground for families! There are so many fun things to do in Colorado Springs with kids. Whether you’re visiting or live here, there’s so much to see and do that kids will love. As a local family photographer in Colorado Springs, I know how important it is to find fun activities that bring out smiles and create lasting memories. I have 3 children myself and have lived here 12 years. Let’s dive into some of the top kid-friendly adventures this city has to offer!

1. Garden of the Gods

This iconic park is a must-see. The towering red rock formations are perfect for exploring. The easy hiking trails make it great for little legs. Bonus: It’s free to visit! Don’t forget your camera—this spot is picture-perfect for family photos. Pro tip: Put in your gps, “Siamese Twins” or “High Point Overlook.” It will take you to the best views and fun rocks for your kids to climb on.

2. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Kids love the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. From feeding elephants to riding the Mountaineer Sky Ride, this zoo is both interactive and educational. Cheyanne Mountain Zoo is rated number 3 for best zoo’s in North America. This zoo is truly unique. Not only because of the beautiful views. This zoo is located on the side of a mountain, with lots of hills and amazing scenery. They have recently added lots of kid play places right in the middle. This zoo is a must see!

3. Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Take a thrilling train ride up to Pikes Peak, one of Colorado’s famous 14ers. Okay full disclosure, the train goes about 5-10 miles per hour, haha. Not completely “thrilling.” BUT, the train ride has great views. It’s just a fun experience for the whole family. Also, at the top, you can get coffee and donuts and maybe feel a little faint! It’s all worth it for the experience.

4. RoadHouse Cinemas

Say it’s raining outside, and there is nothing outdoors you can do. Looking for a unique movie experience for the whole family? RoadHouse Cinemas in Colorado Springs is the spot! This is a personal favorite of mine. You get to order food, popcorn, desserts, and drinks – from your chair! Just hit the light up button by your seat. Your server will come to you – even in the middle of the movie. There is a little table to pull over your chair to eat. The chairs are also very soft and have heated seats. On top of that, the chairs have a foot rest and go back as far as you want.

There are “family friendly” designated movies. So you do not need to worry about your littles making a scene – as that is expected. To top it off, there is an arcade in the building! My family loves to watch a movie, then go and play some games and get prizes. A fun night out for everyone.

5. John Venezia Community Park

John Venezia Community Park in Colorado Springs is a family favorite. The huge playground features swings, slides, climbing structures, and interactive equipment. The playground itself will keep children entertained for hours. This park also has an amazing big splash pad. Kids can cool off while running through water jets and fountains. John Venezia Park is an ideal spot for things to do in Colorado Springs for kids.

6. Great Wolf Lodge

For indoor fun, Great Wolf Lodge offers a water park, arcades, and kid-friendly activities year-round. It’s a fantastic option for a rainy day or just a splashing good time. Remember to book Great Wolf Lodge ahead of time though – it sells out.

Every time I have gone here with my family, we have an absolute BLAST. There are bubble parties, arts and crafts time, dance parties at 9pm in your night gowns. I could go on and on. There is rock climbing (that even little 3 year olds can do). As well as mini golf (what kid does not like mini golf?) A kid hunt for items found around the building. I am telling you, you will not regret going to Great Wolf Lodge.

7. Focus On the Family

Focus on the Family is a must-visit. It’s more than just a destination—it’s an experience designed with families in mind. They have a soda shop, an huge indoor slide, as well as a indoor playground. This place is really awesome! I recommend it 100% for those snow filled cold Colorado Springs days.

Family Photo Tip: Capture the Fun!

While you’re enjoying all these activities, don’t forget to document the memories. Whether it’s your kids marveling at a lion or hiking in the mountains, these moments are worth capturing. Need help?
