Colorado Engagement and Family Photoshoot FAQ’s

     1.  What happens if the weather is bad?

Colorado weather changes SO quickly! What if our  photoshoot is on a day it is supposed to be terrible outside? Even if it says on the weather app says rain or snow.. It most likely will clear up by sunset time. It will be at the photographers discretion whether to re-schedule the session due to weather.

Most cases, we go out – rain or shine! If it is literally a snowing hard or pouring down rain right at session time, I will make every effort to reschedule our session for the following 1-5 days with no fee to reschedule.

     2.  How do I choose a location?

I will be sending you several emails giving pre-session tips. I will be asking what your favorite Colorado Springs, CO and surrounding area scenes are! Most options include:

There are several more locations than just these. Just let me know what kinda vibe you are going for. If you have a favorite in mind, I will give you several location suggestions. With pins, addresses, and specific driving instructions so you do not get lost. I always advise to take a look at my instagram @MichelleBetzPhotography. Screenshot your favorite background location you see. Then text it over to me and I will let you know where that location is!

     3.  How will I know what to wear?

Do not worry!! Three weeks before your session date I will send you a style guide and color scheme examples. You will be fully prepared to know the perfect session outfits to get.

     4.  What time will the Colorado engagement and/or family photoshoot be?

I always schedule my engagement and family portrait sessions about an hour before sunset. This is on purpose for getting that gorgeous golden light. That time changes so much during the year. For example, right now sunset is at 4:15pm. But during the summer, sunset is at 8:30pm. I will let you know the exact time of our session a few days before the session.

Keep this in mind for family photos with littles. I understand having littles myself how hard it is to get smiles and keep them up late. The green grass in the summer is beautiful, you will need to be prepared for the session to need to be near bed time. But don’t worry – ice cream for smiles usually does the trick!

     5.  How long is the session?

For my engagement and family sessions, they are 45 minutes long. I find that is the perfect amount of time to get comfortable. We will get those amazing photos to put up in your living room! For prints, I have a personal print shop that is great quality. You can order directly from your online gallery I will send you. I also give suggestions to some other great print shops if you decide to print elsewhere! The photos are yours, with a printing release 🙂

     6.  How many images will I receive?

I have found that my clients really enjoy and appreciate picking out their favorite images of themselves. After your session, I will send you a bunch of partially-edited images. This will be in an online gallery.  You will “like” your favorite 30 photos. I will then edit and send back those 30 edited images for you to keep. You also have the option to purchase additional photos if you just love them all.

     7.  What is the turn-around time?

You will receive your photos anywhere from 2-4 weeks after your session. (Varies based on if it is busy season or not).
