Planning your wedding in the Mile High City? When you hire the right Denver wedding photographer, one of the most important steps to ensure your special day is beautifully captured. Here are the 10 Questions to Ask Your Denver Wedding Photographer

1. What is your photography style?

Understanding the photographer’s style—whether it’s bright and vibrant, moody and artistic, or documentary—is crucial. Make sure their aesthetic aligns with your vision for your wedding photos. I would first start by asking yourself, which style of wedding photos sparks joy for me? Which ones do I keep looking over and over? Then go to that photographers website and see what they call their style. You can then search on instagram or google for a Denver Wedding Photographer with that same style.

2. What is the experience I should expect from you on my wedding day?

With professional wedding photographers, this question should be answered on the photographers website. But the experience is what you are really paying for. Is the photographer uptight, or carefree? How does this Denver Wedding Photographer make their couple feel? Do I want this photographer to be around me more then every other person (besides my new spouse), on my wedding day? If the answer is YES – thats your photographer.

3. Are you familiar with my wedding venue?

A photographer experienced with your venue will know the best spots for photos, the lighting conditions, and how to make the most of the surroundings.

4. What packages do you offer?

Ask about packages, pricing, and what’s included. For example, engagement sessions and second photographers. Make sure there’s a package that fits your needs. Make sure the edited images are included in the price. Lets say you are paying $5000 for your wedding photographer, thinking everything is included. Then after the wedding they charge you $20 a photo. As a Denver Wedding Photographer myself, my packages include all of the edited images. There are no surprises down the road.

5. Can we see a full gallery from a recent Denver wedding?

Viewing a complete gallery shows the photographer’s consistency throughout an event—not just their highlight reel. A good photographer will have no problem sending you over full wedding galleries. This shows the photographer is confident in their consistency.

6. How do you deal with unpredictable Colorado weather?

Weather in Denver can change quickly. Make sure your photographer is equipped to adapt to sudden rain, snow, or intense sunlight. An easy way to figure this out is to look at their portfolio, does the photographer have pretty rain photos? What about pretty sunshine photos? An experienced wedding photographer will be able to adapt to every weather condition and still give you back amazing photos.

7. Will you give me a sneak peak?

Sneak peaks being given vary based on the photographer. I (Michelle), am a professional wedding photographer. Personally, I believe the bride and groom deserve to have a few photos from their wedding day soon after. I can’t imagine the anticipation of having to wait so long. And not being able to share photos with your friends and family. I guarantee to give sneak peaks within 72 hours after the wedding.

8. How do you manage the timeline on a wedding day?

A skilled photographer will guide you with the timeline. This ensures you have enough time for all your must-have shots without feeling rushed.

9. What happens if there’s an emergency and you can’t make it?

Unexpected situations happen. Make sure your photographer has a backup plan and a network of other professionals they trust.

10. How soon after the wedding will we receive our photos?

Turnaround times vary. Usually based on whether it is the photographers busy season or not. Ask how long it will take to get your images.
